Legacy of Blood Tour

Interview with FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE (Italy)

Fleshgod Apocalypse are currently on the road, supporting Suffocation on the Legacy of Blood Tour, which we saw live in Leipzig, on the 20th March 2010. We managed to catch Tommaso Riccardi and Cristiano Trionfera for an interview, parts of which we already presented for you here on our website. Following is the summary of some interesting facts which we got additionally from the guys after the interview.

Marcel (brutalsounds), Cristiano & Tommaso (Fleshgod Apocalypse), Alex (brutalsounds)

We asked about the general Death Metal scene in Italy and mutual support between the bands of this genre and found out that the scene is still rather small, but it is constantly growing and developing. Unfortunately, Italy is still perceived as a country of Power Metal and Gothic bands such as Labyrinth and Lacuna Coil. Therefore, the bands such as FA, Hour of Penance and Septycal Gorge are still considered underground and do not get much support from the media. The cooperation and support between the bands of the Death Metal genre exists mostly on a regional level, as opposed to the national one.

Tommaso and Cristiano (FA)

Back to the band, FA are very critical about themselves and their creative songwriting process. Setting the standards very high, it can happen sometimes that they are not completely satisfied with the song they created and just decide to discard it and start the process all over again. As a group of perfectionists, they strive to give all they can to their band and its musical development, always working and delivering as a cohesive team, without fear that anyone’s egoism would get in the way.

Paolo (FA)

Being the big fans of the old school Death Metal, the band decided to give homage to one of its pioneering bands, At The Gates, by covering their song “Blinded by fear”. Naturally, they spiced it all up with the typical Fleshgod Apocalypse trademarks – speed and brutality! Brutalsounds.tv had the chance to witness this in their live performance and we can say that it really kicks some brutal ass! The song can be found on their new EP “Mafia” due to be released in June 2010 via Willowtip Records (USA) and Candlelight Records (Europe).

We were shocked when they told us that drummer Francesco Paoli learned his drumming skills in one and a half year!!! Really outstanding talent and devotion :-) – and if you ever saw Fleshgod Apocalypse performing live you might understand…
